Legend says that two boys died here after drowning in the pond sometime in the 1920s. Their spirits are said to linger the area. Park visitors in the summertime have reported hearing them laughing and splashing and seeing the water move, even though there was nothing visible making it move.

  • Something evil there followed me home

This is a true story I would like to share. This happens back in the '80s. We live right on Beauchamp Ave when me and my brother decided to skip school so we rode our bikes into van horn park and decided to hang out there until school was over. Everything was going all huncky dorkey when we came to a fork that split somewhere in the park. Both of us felt a very cold chill rush around us and the hairs on our bodies came up to a full stand. The feeling of anger and dread and evil intensely overwhelmed us. We got so scared we raced our bikes in the opposite direction to head home. The whole time we were racing our bikes like crazy we felt as if we were being followed yet no one was behind us. When we reached our home we dropped our bikes in the front yard and ran inside. Both of us still feeling this angry energy around us. We locked all the doors and pulled down all the window shades. It was very intense. And still this day I am tormented by this thing that has been following me for years. Many friends and family members have seen black shadow people and smells that come and go like rotten eggs. Things have disappeared has been moved to places where we don't leave them. and showing up days or weeks later in a place we know we have looked. We have seen a hell dog as well. Sounds and shadows figure all always seen and just this heavy presents around that come and go. It was a toll until today that I realized when I got my attachment. I would love to find out how to get rid of this thing that's haunted me and my family. You always think it's so cool to see ghosts and things. Don't get me wrong, it is cool just not when it is happening to you. Has anyone ever been thrown this stuff like me after visiting the park?
