Old Burying Point Cemetery - Real Salem Haunt

  • 51 Charter St.
  • Salem, MA
  • (978) 777-0407
The Old Burying Point Cemetery is not only one of the oldest in Salem, but the United States as well! The cemetery was laid out in 1637 and overlooks the South River. It was built to house the spirits of colonists who died of illness in the preceding decade.

In addition to many other spirits, the cemetery is reportedly haunted by "The Ghostly Lady in White." Rumor has it that she is a bit camera shy and does not manifest if there are photos being taken - or she turns into a bright orb. This ghost has also been spotted in the parking lot to the cemetery, as well as nearby in buildings and restaurants. Those who visit the cemetery have reported an overwhelming feeling of sadness and despair.
